Match report
With wet weather on the Friday and Saturday some hard work was needed to get the Forthill field playable. But with some dedication of the tired and true the field was playable by 2:30pm with a 35 over game underway. Huntly had delayed making the trek down hoping for rain and the team that did eventually turned up included only about 6 of their regulars with some of their juniors making up the numbers. The 2:30 start suited Bostock and Wallace who still looked a bit worse for wear after a big Friday night. Ted won the toss and chose to make use of the remaining dampness in a very good pitch.

Deano opened up the bowling with a rank full toss which quiet rightly got put away to the boundary. But to the batsmen surprise Deano then got the next one on the right spot with it jagging back into the top of off stump without a shot being played. As Wallace opened up from the other end the Huntly batsmen seems pretty keen not to use their full allotted overs as they attacked both bowlers. While they connected with some and put some other bad balls away they didn’t protect their stumps enough so when Wallace and Deano (2 wickets a piece) did get it right they were quickly back in the pavilion. With the score on 4-40 off 6 overs Huntly then proceeded with some shambolic running between wickets turning a regulation single down to fine leg into a clear run out and a then tried to take a suicide single straight to a fielder. As the last remaining Huntly recognised batsmen to try and swing from the hips Bostock continued to bowl at the pegs and finally got his got man again cleaning up the stumps. Bostock then picked up a couple of cheap wickets (he even got hi-fived by both batsmen) to take his final tally to 4 wickets and just reward for some stump to stump bowling. Huntly ended up on 86 which was unlikely to be enough on a good wicket. The umpire (Howie) was left to enjoy the sunshine as 8 wicket were bowled and 2 were clear run-outs. Only 22 overs were bowled and therefore tea was delayed.

With only 87 runs to get off 35 overs and 1 main Huntly strike bowler in attendance Gav and Dennis set their sights on seeing off the first 14 overs. But in the first over Gav was done by a good leg cutter which was well taken at second slip. Goose came to the wicket as the plan stayed the same. While the runs came steady at one end, Nicoll continued to prove difficult to handle, but with some luck was seen off without loss. Dennis then lost his composer as he decided to attack the rest of the bowling and was well out of his ground and still looking to the sky when stumped for 29. As Chick (14 not out) joined Goose (34 not out) at the crease they continued to push around the ball to see us across the line for an easy win.
