Huntly v Forfarshire Cricket Club 2nd XI on Sat 18 Jun 2005 at 1pm
Forfarshire Cricket Club Lost 4 wickets

Match report Forthill's annual pilgrimage north to Huntly began with the 2nd team's very own version of Wacky Races with the Little Green Bullet, the Trust Rusty Polo and the Ford "extra zoom" Focus all battling it out for a place on the Huntly Podium.

The lead changed hands several times over the course of the trip, and despite the Rusty Polo being weighed down with rust and the Little Green Bullet hampered by engine problems, they were the early pace setters. However, slow and steady wins the race and while his competitors were negotiating one of the many tricky roundabouts on the A96, Pottsy’s extra zoom Focus was cruising to victory.

Having lost the toss Forthill were put in to bat which gave Cammy and Neil the chance to build on what has looked to be a pretty solid opening partnership so far this season. True to form, despite some doubts over the pitch, they continued their good run, Cammy bringing up his 50 in the 27th over and the hundred partnership following just 2 overs later. Cammy's dismissal, lbw to a shin high full toss sparked a mini collapse with a further 3 wickets falling in short time including Neil for a well made 41, but some big hitting and quick running in the last 6 or 7 overs from the dynamic duo took us up to a very competitive 188, with Biggie finishing 34 not out and Barry not out with 20.

Report by "Daddy" Coull.

Huntly's reply got of to the worst possible start when Cameron took the first wicket with only 9 runs on the board, but this brought their amateur to the crease to join the professional and they very quickly began to pile on the runs and, largely due to the ineptitude of Forthill's cover point fielder, the game raced away from us almost as quickly as our very own Dastardly and Mutley had raced from Fintry Place to Aberdeen earlier in the day.

After the drinks break we came at them hard and a much needed improvement in the field together with some good bowling changes from the skipper, and fielding changes from Bazza, took us right back into the game. 3 wickets from Cammy and 2 from a sun kissed Rusty meant that going into the last 5 overs Huntly still had bit to do with only 3 wickets in hand, but the it wasn't to be and winning runs came in the 43rd over.
