Match report Simmy won the toss and put the opposition in on a very soft and wet wicket. Kean produced his best spell of the season so far, conceding just 14 runs from his 10 overs - his haul of two wickets being fewer than he deserved, constantly beating the bat just outside off stump.

After removing the openers, Rossie's main stay Peter Milne played a very restrained innings and survived one chance when he hit a short ball from Kean in the air towards cover, but just too low for Colin to hang onto. Ted replaced Kean and maintained the quality of the attack, and picked up the prize wicket of Rusty, Elliot taking a sharp catch at gulley. At the other end, Dean too found a good line and length, while Andy's extra pace saw him pick up 4 wickets to bowl Rossie out for 90 in the 43rd over.

After tea, Gigsy and Gav opened, but Giggsy was out early trying to pull a long hop and gave a catch to mid-wicket. Replaced by Andy, the runs then flowed freely before a poor decision to take on the arm of third man saw Andy run out for a quick 14. The cloudy conditions of the first innings had now given way to sunshine, and with the top of the wicket drying out, batting became more hazardous, Gav taking a blow in the chest and later the elbow from "Fish" in one over. Tight bowling saw runs hard to come by, Gav and Ian picking up one's and two's every other over. The change bowlers gave more scoring chances, Ian hitting a six over extra cover, followed by a streaky four past point to ease the situation slightly, while Gav continued picking up singles, to edge towards Rossie total.

Ian was out for 20, followed quickly by Dean, Simmy and Gav for a valuable 17, leaving it to Colin and Simmy junior to steer the team to victory with 7 overs remaining.

Overall, a good team performance played in conditions so humid that the ball had to be dried after most deliveries.
