Match report Well the rabbit's foot didn’t work for the rabbit and it certainly didn’t work for Weedols as he lost the toss, again! The game started with a bit of cloud about and there was a bit of swing early on. The openers for Stoneywood got off to a good start after surviving a few scares. There were balls looping over the in-field and edges running between fielders as they put on 100 for the first wicket.

Time for the Golden Nugget to strike, with 2 wickets in an over the breaks were applied. We fielded and bowled really well, again, and this was shown in the final total, with Stoneywood only managing 190-7. Howie finished with another 4 wickets and I started dusting off the golf clubs for next Saturday.

We had another half-century opening stand from the inform pair of Drummond and Garden. Unfortunately neither went on to make a big score and there was the usual flurry of pads being strapped on by the middle-order as the scoreboard quickly showed 4 wickets down. The bowling of Stoneywood was disciplined and runs were hard to find. Tony scratched around for a while with his Kwik-cricket bat but finally found the middle for a few 4’s.

Pete Drinnen made his annual appearance for the Forfs because we were missing a couple of regulars. I'm not sure how many Baileys Tony promised to buy him to persuade him to play. He kept well in the first innings and batted assuredly as we would all expect. It would be nice to see him make one or two more appearances this year. Unfortunately he was left with too much to do himself and the introduction of the left-arm spin of Nathan Palmer really turned things for Stoneywood. His 2-18 was to prove crucial and it was a good bit of captaincy from David Lamb keeping him back. We ended on 162-9 after the 50 overs.
