Match report
Forthill XI took a break from their league matches to play in Kinloch's Centenary 20/20 Tournament at St.Andrews on Sunday along with teams from Norwood, Dundee High School and Kinloch.
In the first match, Forthill posted a slightly under par 97, the innings held together by a stylish 27 from Craig - this knock, including a hook for six over square leg, deservedly wining the Craig the "Man of the Tournament" award. Norwood made steady progress towards their target, but the best bowling and fielding performance of the season to date set up a tense final over, Norwood needing 8 for victory - but it was too many as Dean's nerve held under the pressure, and Forthill won by 4 runs.
Game 2, and the chance for silverware, was against Kinloch. Once again, the bowling and fielding was faultless and Kinloch's danger men were soon back in the pavilion, Jingles being in top form with 2 for 3 from 4 overs, as Kinloch were bowled out for 64. Forthill's run chase never gained much momentum on what we discovered was a more difficult batting wicket than it looked. 20 from Ian and 11 from John were the only double figure scores and we were all out for 60 in the final over.
It was a disappointment not to pick up a trophy in what had been a thoroughly enjoyable day played in a competitive but friendly manner - and all are keen for the event to be repeated in future years.
The post-match meal at the Dil'Se was well attended, and Kinloch's Centenary and 20/20 victory were toasted.
