Match report It was a glorious warm sunny day for our trip to the far reaches of the West coast. Pete was in fine tossing form to win 5 in a row and we had a bat. We were a little surprised to see Rhino stroll out to open the innings with Stevie Wonder, but thought the skipper had a Baldrick style cunning plan in mind. It was a bit of a slow start with some tight bowling and Ryan was getting a little frustrated. He was first to depart when he was caught on the crease and out LBW. Beast was looking relaxed in his promoted position at three.

Miers had prodded his way to 11 before being run out in a desperate manner. Soon after this Beast was out caught at cover, he should have smashed that half-volley over the scorebox. It was the sort of start we had been avoiding since the beginning of the season and one that was going to be hard to recover from.

Fodder and Drummy tried to build a partnership but both were out caught in disappointing fashion. Umair was looking very comfortable and played some excellent shots. He started to do the rebuilding work aided by Chik.

Umi brought up a very fine fifty in good time and impressed all that were watching. There was a steady fall of wickets in the last ten overs but we had done well to recover and pass the two hundred mark. It still didn’t look enough runs though.

We got off to a poor start with too many runs coming too easily. Rhino picked up an early wicket and then a good run out brought us back into the game. The fielding wasn’t up to our recent standards and the changes of bowling couldn’t stem the run flow. Umair bowled well but former New Zealand opening batsmen Matt Horne looked in little trouble and paced his innings well. Blackie came back on and bowled a bit better and Miers was also given a few overs and bowled well.

A century from Horne was made all too easy with some indifferent bowling and fielding. Our total proved not to be enough and they coasted past with only four wickets down.
