Match report After another week of rain our trip to Linlithgow looked in doubt with forecasters predicting a continuation of the bad weather. It was therefore a pleasant surprise to see a bit of sunshine breaking through on Saturday morning. Unfortunately the aptly named Boghall was still very wet when we arrived. The West Lothian skipper didn’t seem to keen to start on time and we were delayed until nearly 4pm before a 35 over a side match could be started.

It turned out to be a good toss to lose as the wicket played quite well, all considered. The openers got us off to a good start once again with 59 on the board when Howie was bowled. Ryan was mixing cautious defence with his trademark double steps and was fortunate to survive a simple return chance that the bowler dropped. Coops didn’t take long to get going and was in confident mood. Both of them perished after passing fifty but gave us a good platform to launch from in the last few overs.

Bobby and Umair had good twenties in quick time and propelled us to a very imposing total. After launching a big six over the fence Bobby fell to a good one handed catch on the boundary and Umi was LBW.

Tea had been taken early so it was straight on with the bowling boots and back into action. The sky was looking a bit more threatening and we had to rush through the first few overs to ensure that we reached the designated 20 overs to make it a legitimate game. There was quite a lot of swing early on and Richie got us off to a brilliant start bowling 2 batsmen in his first over. Scoring wasn’t easy in these conditions and the batsmen tried fruitlessly to improve the scoring rate.

Rhino came on and continued to apply pressure and when Richie got his third wicket there was a lot of work left for the pro. Rhino finished with a couple of wickets in a good spell and Coops came on and proved to be quite a handful finding some good movement in the air. His three wickets ensured that West Lothian were never in with a chance and we collected a well earned 10 points.
