Match report Forthill made their longest trip of the season on Saturday, up to Aberdeen to take on Stoneywood-Dyce.

Forthill were asked to bat first on a firm wicket, and Gav and Dalts opened the batting. Unfortunately both were soon back in the pavilion and the scoreboard read 5 for 2. Andy and Finbar staged a recovery and took the total up to 42 before Andy top-edged a delivery onto his helmet and into the hands of first slip when he had reached 30. The wicket had shown some signs of variable bounce early on, and the slower change bowlers used this to their advantage.

Overseas amateur Hameeteman bowled "leggies" that would likely have been punished more on a more consistent wicket while Singh bowled "darts" from the other end - and bowled only one loose delivery which Finbar suitably dispatched over the pavilion.

Ian and Finbar put on 50 for the 4th wicket, by which time the noise from passing aircraft was being drowned out by the incessant chat our opposition. Finbar fell for a well constructed 37 when he mis-hit a pull to deep mid-wicket, Ian out soon after for 20. Dean added a few quick runs towards of the ends of the innings before trying to entice Simmy to take a very quick single to short mid-wicket - he was sent back, and run out for 17.

The best tea of the season so far saw the team engrossed in a selection of sausage rolls, sandwiches, melon, strawberries and a fine selection of cakes. The lengthy tea interval that such a spread required gave the home groundsman ample opportunity to roll the wicket for what appeared to be about 20 minutes!! We'll not fall for that trick again.....

The wicket look flat and less ragged than during first innings and the S/D openers got off to a good start before Kev broke the deadlock. Then two quick wickets saw Stoneywood 64 for 3 in the 17th over - but from there Stoneywood took control of the game, and after the fall of one more wicket, the home team reached their target in the 30th over.
