Mon  29   v  Arbroath          H
Arbroath 115-6  Fraser 3-21
Forfarshire 97-6  Aman 33 retired, Kevin 26

We knew this was going to be our toughest game of the season to date. After losing the toss (again!) we were sent into the field. A couple of catches went amiss that could have trimmed about 20/30 runs off their score and we bowled a few too many wides, so it wasn't a great performance in the field.

Me and Kev opened the batting and set about reasonably attacking, the score was 62/0 when I retired. Kevin batted almost all the way through for his 26 and it was a good controlled knock. David was unfortunately run out after he was just starting to get going and from then the run rate was never up with what we needed.

Fri  26   v  Largo (Friendly)  A
Postponed. New date to be arranged.

Wed  24  v  Montrose    (H)

Forfarshire 92-3  Aman 31 retired, David 16

Montrose 87 all out  Harjinder 4-25

We were hoping to beat Montrose but knew it would be a tough game. We lost the toss and were inserted to bat. Kevin dropped anchor and played 17 overs for his 14 while me and Goose hit around him. We ended up on 90-odd

Me and Kev opened the bowling and then Stuart came on and bowled a brilliant spell and Harjinder also bowled well, taking 4 wickets. It was a closer game then it should have been.

Thur  18  v  Rossie Priory     (A)
Forfarshire 75-4  Kevin 30 retired

Rossie Priory 32 all out, Elliot 3 wickets

We turned up for this game slightly more wary after the shock loss to Strathie the previous week. We batted first and me and Kev opened. I was bowled early doors trying to hit a ridiculous shot but again Kev batted through and retired on 30, with some able support from Andrew.

Me and Mo opened and my spinners yielded 2 wickets as I was turning the ball square and Mo also picked up 2 and from then on the game was never a contest. Special mention to Elliot, who would have had a hat-trick had he not bowled a no ball on the 3rd ball, off which a catch was taken.

Thur  11  v  Strathmore (Cup)    (H)

Strathmore 105-7

Forfarshire 100-5  Kevin 39,  Aman 26

We went into our first game of the season confident of beating Strathmore and after losing the toss they decided to bat first. Me and Kev opened the bowling and while I got smacked around. Kev kept it tight. Stu then came on and ripped through their middle order but one of their batsmen batted through and they ended up, somehow, on 105.

Me and David opened the batting and “The Goose” got a second baller as a half tracker went below his knee. Kev came in and me and him put on a decent partnership, until I was out caught and bowled, 40 for
2 after 4 overs. Stu and Kev stayed in for most of the rest of the innings and we looked to be on course to win until Stu got out then the end was all a bit of a rush but special mention must go to Kev for a top knock.
