Forfarshire Cricket Club 3rd XI v Breadalbane on Sun 13 Aug 2006 at 1pm
Match was Drawn

Match report Still sitting at the top of the table, Forthill XI welcomed Breadalbane to Forthill for their third last game of the season.

Simmy lost the toss again and Forthill were inserted and Clark and Robbie opened the batting. A good start ensued and the pair put on 100 for the opening wicket before Robbie holed out at long on off the first of a succession of visiting "dibblie dobblies." Finbar soon went the same way before Clark and Marty started to build a good partnership.Clark was caught on the deep square leg boundary and upon his return to the pavilion was informed he had scored 99. However a tea time recount showed that he had in fact scored 104 and spared him a lifetime of ice cream and flake jokes. Dean and Kean played some fine attacking shots
towards the end of the innings and a good total of 258 for 9 was eventually posted from the 45 overs.

As ever this season, bowling a side out at Forthill was going to prove difficult and in spite of an encouraging start to their innings, it soon became clear that Breadalbane had little intention of chasing down the total set. Indeed it became a long drawn out affair and in spite of the best efforts of the Forthill attack the game petered out into a draw.Even the late introduction of the combined
pace/spin/garbage attack of messrs Clark and Ian failed to produce any entertainment, although it did almost result in a visit to Ninewells for some close in catchers.

So an 18 point draw was secured and the place at the top of the table further cemented for the home side.

Next week the penultimate game of the season sees the team head up to Crieff where a tough game is expected. Crieff are also in the upper echelons of the league and will see this as a last chance to gun down the leaders, whereas Forthill know that a positive result will all but seal the league title.

Unfortunately Simmy is booked into The Priory for a further session due to a Kebab overdose and is unavailable along with Simmy Junior, so someone else will have to single handedly patrol the leg side next week. Dave Thomson will be running the usual Freda Express with pick up's at Vissochis, the Ice Rink and Asif's house.

Due to overwhelming demand, a re-print of "Teddy loves Spud" t shirts has been arranged and bookings shold be made with the cost retained at £9.99. In addition, a limited edition "Dave loves Jonathan" sweatshirt has been printed and in cerise at a cost of just £14.99 is an absolute bargain.

Orders are also being taken for a Kean loves Kinloch t shirt.
