Forfarshire Cricket Club is delighted to announce their playing and coaching staff for the 2018 season. Head Coach for 2018 will be Craig Wallace.
Craig has played for Forfarshire for many years having come through our own youth system and represented the club at all levels. Following a highly successful junior international career, he progressed to the full Scotland international team and is an important part of the current Scotland squad. Craig is currently a Level 2 coach and has gained coaching knowledge over the years working with the staff within the Scotland set up and also in other organisations. Forfarshire are delighted to give Craig this opportunity and believe that his affinity with the club coupled with the coaching knowledge he has gained makes him the ideal person to take the club forward in 2018 and beyond.
We are also delighted to announce that re-joining the club in 2018 is Michael Leask.
Michael played for Forfarshire in 2015 before heading south to take up a two year professional contract with Somerset CCC. Michael played a number of times for Somerset in the T20 Blast and gained extensive experience of the first class game. Working on a daily basis in a full-time professional set up allowed Michael to hone his game and he is also an integral part of the current Scotland international team. A hard hitting batsman and off spinner, Michael will greatly enhance the Forfarshire line up for 2018 and will also assist Craig in a coaching role.
Forfarshire are delighted to commit to home grown Scottish talent and give them the opportunity to help the club to grow on and off the park. We will also continue to invest in our youth set up and the overall promotion of the game of cricket in Dundee – and also in our facilities which now include our new Indoor Training Facility.
Forfarshire will also be welcoming Bill Kruip to the club in 2018.
Bill is a 21 year old fast/medium bowler and hard hitting batsman who currently plays for Valleys CC in Brisbane, Australia. The club have built up a strong relationship with Valleys CC over the years and previous visitors from that club have included Peter Drinnen, Brad Murphy and last year’s Head Coach Matt Walter. Our own Rory Johnson and Callum Garden are currently playing for Valleys CC in Australia this winter. This will be Bill’s first overseas trip and we look forward to him representing Forfarshire next season.
The club congratulates Craig and Michael and wish them every success in their new roles – and also bid a very warm welcome to Bill.
