Forfarshire Cricket Club News story

Alan Salisbury

03 Jul 2022

It is with great sorrow that Forfarshire Cricket Club acknowledge the sad news of the passing of our much valued club member and friend, Alan Salisbury.

Alan first became involved with Forfarshire when his son David joined the junior section. Alan would be seen throwing balls to young David in the nets for hours on end.

Alan became an avid supporter of all the teams, watching matches every weekend with an occasional trip to an away game. Alan was always willing to praise good performances from teams and individuals and was well known for his dry sense of humour and sharp wit.

Over the years, Alan quietly worked hard behind the scenes as a handy man and painter. He was always willing to lend a hand to help, especially when Forfarshire hosted National and International matches.

Alan was a keen sportsman, in his younger days he was a professional footballer for St Johnstone FC, Jeanfield Swifts and other clubs.

Alan’s death is a massive loss to the club, and we will all miss him. Our deepest sympathies are extended to Diane, David and family.

Alan’s funeral will take place at Dundee Crematorium on Friday 15th July at 12.30pm and thereafter at Woodlands Hotel. There is no dress code, but the family have requested club ties are worn if you were part of any club.
