Match report Saturday brought our annual trip up North to play Stoneywood/Dyce and from the outset it was clear it wasn’t going to be a warm day. Arriving at Forthill at 10.30 it was freezing.

The Wacky Racers this week consisted of Bazza, Nelly and Ranj "the driver" Suresh. Unbelievably Neil arrived first with the aid of Bazza getting lost.

Once the real action started it wasn’t long until the Forthill boys were racing in front. With Sammy and Aman opening the bowling the "Stoney's" batsmen found it hard to score any runs. The deadlock was broken with Robbie "Jonty" Watson taking a blinder at cover of the bowling of Blackie.

The second wicket fell from a screamer for Wally once again of the bowling of Blackie after he had tempted the batsmen into a mis-stroke and was caught at long on.

From then onwards Stoneys were struggling to build a competitive total until their South African compiled an edgy 51 not out. In between all this the driver had come on to pick up a couple of wickets after disturbing the timber of 2 batsmen including a Saltires player.

After 45 overs we retired for some sausage rolls and needed 183 runs to win.

This total looked like a struggle after we lost Nelly for a duck, Wally for 18 and Robbie for 7 leaving as 4-40, the later forgetting to put his cricket shoes on and upsetting the groundsman when his slippers left rip marks down the pitch.

After a quick flurry from Biggie it was left to Barry and Aman, who with a mix of brilliant strokes quickly lifted us to our total making it look easy in the process. Special mention must go to these two because it was not easy batting conditions out there and they mastered it well. Barry finished on 56 not out and Aman finished on 62 not out. A fine knock from both.

Overall a good performance and we left Stoneys wishing Ranji well until we next need his car for our trip to Huntly.
