Forfarshire Cricket Club 2nd XI v Huntly on Sat 27 May 2006 at 1pm
Forfarshire Cricket Club Won 10 runs

Match report Saturday saw the arrival of the Huntly shuttle to Forthill and it was widely expect that it would be a tough and exciting game, one bookie even giving it as evens on the draw!

Once the other 10 Huntly players decided to turn up and join the pro we were asked to bat first and it was clear from the start that it wasnt going to be easy with the ball struggling at times to reach the fence.

Neily and Wally batted very well with the conditions worsening, and Nelly was unfortunate to be stumped for a well made 26 after slipping in Robbie’s slippers. Robbie came out to join Wally and was soon back in good form stroking some excellent shots to the fence and in the gaps. Once Wally had departed for 38 after getting caught plum in front Barry “The Batsman” came out and continued his good before finally getting out for 60. Robbie went for 38 leaving Butts and Bryce to add some precious runs at the end.

After retiring for our tea, we came out in a real "bubble" and Kean quickly removed the pro after he had got frustrated with his edges and our noise. Special mention to Biggie for his words of comfort. In walked the Huntly captain and he batted extremely well in face of adversity for a well made 100, while wickets were tumbling around him. Kean and Jamesie were replaced by Blackie and Deano, the later picking up a wicket in his first over.

Then the talking point of the match happened, struggling to remove the batsmen, Teddy offered some advice to Blackie telling him to toss one HIGH up. Once the batsmen saw the ball coming he set of down the track and met the ball at chest height and skied it to a great catch at Dean. Unfortunately square leg umpire called a late no-ball and several words were exchanged. Order resumed with Huntly needing 8 runs off 10 overs with 5 wickets in hand. Blackie picked up 2 wickets in 2 balls, with a mixture of flight and one terrible shot and that set up the stage for a grand finale!!

Kean "The Pro" strode up to the wicket with unusual fluency and struck removing The Huntly skipper for 103 after a brilliant catch by Bryce at covers and with the very next ball managed to get the new batsman caught at mid-on by Robbie "safest hands in Scotland" Watson. No one could quite believe it and it seemed Kean was the calmest player out of the 11 as the very next ball sent the middle stump cartwheeling towards Forfar. Players and fans alike went mad and we congratulated Kean for his hat-trick in the best possible way, a good old fashioned jug, but only after the covers had been put on.

5 Wickets in 7 balls was an incredible effort and we will struggle to ever repeat it.

Yet another superb victory for the Forthill boys and hopefully a comeback that can only help our confidence throughout the season.
