Match report Arbroath U13 vs. Ferry Forfs U13 (Monday 13th August, Lochlands)

Arbroath batted very well to reach a very respectable 178-4 from their 35 overs. Daryl (28), Ben (46) and Alex (52no) were all severe on any poor deliveries, and were helped more than once by some indifferent Forfs fielding. Rory quickly got into a great rhythm and bowled 5 pacey overs and was unlucky to finish wicketless. Chris, Fraser, and Callum all made good contributions with some well flighted spin bowling, and it was nice to see Callum R produce his best spell of bowling this season. Michael S also first ran out Ben and then went on to see one of his shorter deliveries pulled straight to Fraser at deep square who pouched the catch safely.

As for the Forfs reply; two quick wickets fell and the balance of power seemed to have swung in favour of the home team as the Forfs found themselves at 21 for 2. Callum joined Rory at the crease and together they started to pile on the runs. Giving only a half chance in the 40s which went for four instead of six, Rory eventually reached a magnificent maiden century, hitting 17 fours and one maximum. At the other end, Callum also batted beautifully; very solid in defence, good strike rotation and severe punishment of bad deliveries. Ultimately, with only a handful of runs required for victory, he fell three short of what would have been a well deserved half century.
