"On Saturday a match was played between the Forfarshire and Rossie clubs, on the ground of the former, at Forthill, Broughty Ferry. The weather was fine, and the ground in good condition. There was a considerable attendance of spectators. The home team batted first, and scored 72 runs, and the lowness of the score was principally attributed to the excellence of the bowling on the part of the Rossie. The Rossie men succeeded in running up a total of 87, the feature of the innings being the fine batting of Messrs P. and T. Smith, who had 20 and 27 respectively, the only double figures on their side."
