Match report
The Rossie ground staff (Rusty) promised a hard and fast wicket for Sunday's game, but a thunderstorm on Friday night saw the square under water and the wicket became one that made batting tricky and handed the advantage to the bowlers.

It was no surprise that Forthill XI were asked to bat first after losing the toss, Craig and Gav finding the father and son Milne combination an awkward opening attack. Craig, Clark and Elliot were the only batsmen to offer much resistance, Craig playing a restrained innings given the, at times, unpredictable bounce coupled with bowling that was all too easy to get out too. Clark batting at number 3 had just started to look set when a mis-timed pull saw a comfortable catch fall to mid-on. The middle order came and went to a mix of good deliveries and poor shots given the conditions, leaving Elliot at number 10 to come in a hit consecutive sixes in his quick 18. A final score of 136 gave us a chance, but always sounded a little short of what was required.

With Rossie's juniors playing in our own u14 six-a-side competition, our bowlers were presented with the experienced opening partnership of Lawson and Faf. A perfect yorker from Dean saw Faf on his way back early, but Lawson went on to score a gritty 35, a well disguised slower ball from Andy beating his defences. Batting at 4, Chas rode his luck to hit a quick 24, leaving C.Robertson to score a frustrating 48 not out, several deliveries just missing the stumps and a number of aerial shots just out of reach of fielders.

On another day, Forthill XI may have pulled off the win, but on this occasion it was not to be.
